There are many opportunities at Elizabeth City State University for student involvement. The college experience is more gratifying when a student is able to pursue their talents and skills. Combining academics and other interests will allow you to become more discipline in managing your time, and also help to develop cultivate lifelong skills and friendships. Open to all ECSU students.
Dedicated to Empower Young Women (DEW Girl Power Inc.) – to enhance the development of young girls and provide a research based information and network with mentors to expose them to the benefits and the importance of positive self-image, responsible personal conduct, respect for self and others, and cultural enrichment. www.dewgirlpower.com
Free Mindz Poetry Club – Through creative expression, job readiness training, and violence prevention outreach, these clubs poets achieve their education and career goals, and become powerful voices for change in the community. To express ideas, creative thinking, and writing to diverse audience as well as poetry, singing, and shining.
Future MBA Association – To encouragement of career independence foe business professional the promotion at intellectual and economic wealth ad empowerment and the professional advancement of undergraduate students.
Green Council – Is to plan community service events, host fundraising and bring awareness that promotes and enhances our campus sustainability.
Hispanic/Latino Club – Focuses on Latin American issues and issues specific to US Hispanics/Latinos. We welcome all Hispanics and Latinos on campus, as well as others who would like to join us. We participate in activities that embrace and celebrate our nationalities and cultures, including salsa lessons, the Latin American Festival, movie nights, and more.
Let’s Get Active Clubs (LGA) – created to get students active on campus as well as with the community.
LGBTQ Club (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or Questioning) – Ourmission work to maintain a supportive environment for LGBT students in the classroom, in corporate recruiting, and on campus.
Management Information System Club – The vision of the management information systems club shall be “building a community of students and professionals interested in bridging business and technology.”
Multi-Cultural International Student Club – The vision of the Multicultural & International Student Programs Office is to develop an inclusive, multicultural & globally aware campus that embraces and appreciates diversity within the ECSU community.
National Association for the Adv. Of Colored People (NAACP) – Organization thatfight for social justice for all Americans.
National Council of Negro Women Inc. NCNW translates its philosophy of public education, community service and advocacy into activities designed to promote a number of benefits for our constituents.
Narcissistic Naturals – The purpose is to unite and empower all naturals and transition student on Elizabeth City State University campus.
Pep Squad – To promote school spirit and crease crowd participation at sporting (i.e. football, basketball and other sports) and general events.
Student Activities Committee (S.A.C) serves as a guide for ECSU students in molding and creating their Viking Pride experience.
Student Government Association – The mission statement of the Student Government Association (SGA) is “to serve ECSU by representing student opinion, addressing campus needs through targeted programs and maintenance of tradition, and providing opportunities for leadership development in order to enrich the quality of student life.”
Uniting Black Colleges & University – Bring awareness about the financial state and enrollment of HBCU’s & to give back by promoting the university in a positive way through community service and campus involvement.
Viking Assisting New Students (VANS) serve as a resource to new and transfer students who are making the transition into college.
V.I.C.T.O.R (Vikings in Christ Taking Our Reign) – The purpose is to impart knowledge and teachings about biblical principles and how to apply them to the real world applications.
Viking Times – The mission of the club is to spread awareness among ECSU students by critically analyzing local, national and international news through roundtable discussions.
Vike Nu Models Inc. – To motivate others daily to engage in a life of style and to be productive members of our society through community outreach.
Women in Aviation – Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women (and men) who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries
Departmental Clubs and Organizations
Apothecary Club Formed to represent pharmacy students enrolled in the UNC-Chapel Hill/ECSU Pharmacy Partnership Program, as well as, pre-pharmacy students enrolled at ECSU. The objective is to host events, speakers, fundraisers, ect. and implement community service projects related to the profession of pharmacy. It is also an interest of the club to increase the visibility of the UNC-Chapel Hill/ECSU Pharmacy Partnership Program to business and organizations in Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia.
Chemistry & Physics Club Open to all students who are interested in Chemistry and Physics
Criminal Justice Club Organized to promote and familiarize students with the Criminal Justice field and to give them an opportunity to meet with in-service persons working in law enforcement and related areas. Open to Criminal Justice majors and other students with interest in the area
Health & Physical Education Club – To provide all majors with an organization that fosters the open exchange of ideas, an atmosphere of service in the community and at the university regardless of social, cultural, and political relationships.
History and Political Science Club – The purpose of this club is to promote interest in history, political science, and geography in college students.
Mass Media Club Some of the most active, visible and accomplished organizations at ECSU are found in the Student Media. To gain practical experience, students may work with either The Viking Times (newspaper), WRVS 89.9-FM (radio) or the student-produced cable television newscast, Viking Update.
Peer Health Educator – The Peer Health Educators (PHEs) are a diverse group ECSU students trained to educate their classmates about college health and wellness issues in a positive, interactive, fun, and nonjudgmental manner
Psychology Club The purpose of the Psychology Club is to encourage and stimulate interests in the academic discipline of psychology among the student body. This club is open to all students.
Social Work Club – The purpose of this organization is to provide students numerous opportunities to experience the mission and purpose of the social work profession.
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience.
Student Leadership Development This program prepares ECSU Student Leaders with the learning experience designed to identify and foster individual leadership potential. The program is broken down into different series that combines leadership training, interviewing skills, effective communication, and service skills. This program is required for all clubs/organizations Presidents and Vice Presidents and is open to all students.
